Good Apples Friday // Psalms 63

Welcome to Good Apples Friday!

Today I would like to share with you a Psalm that I read today.

You, God, are my God,
    earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
    where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
    my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
I cling to you;
    your right hand upholds me.
Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;
they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword
    and become food for jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by God will glory in him,
while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

I especially loved verse 3.
Because you love is better than life.
And it is!
And I pray that that would be our song.
That his love is better than life.

I would be open to any prayer requests in the comments below.
I would ask you to pray for my friend's dad who's sick.
And also my friend who's very sick.

Bernie's Random Ramblings // FCA CAMP.

Welcome back to Bernie's Random Ramblings!
Last week was one of my favorite weeks of the summer.
The three days where I would go to FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
I've been a camper in the camp for three years, but unfortunately I was to old.
But take no fear for I volunteered.
Today I will tell you about the camp and the great adventures I got to be apart in.

Firstly, the worship, sermon, and huddle meeting.
We all have our huddles with around 15 people in them. When we met all of them we listened to worship which was amazing. We sang awesome songs and did some dancing too! If you haven't listen to You Make Me Brave, it's right here. Listen. The theme for this camp was Rise. Rise Tough, Rise Today, Rise Together, and Rise Tomorrow. The Pastor talked about Daniel who stood up for what was right. And he had to sit with lions for a couple days, but God had a plan for him. We talked about David who was strong and fought Goliath knowing God had a plan for him. Now I told those kids, this is for me. I'm shy. I'm 14 and still ask my sister to walk to the bathroom with me, sometimes talk to someone for me, and ask questions for me. little sis advantages lol ;P. (I'm, so glad I have a big sister) Although I was nervous when I had to teach the bible study to my huddle I really think they listened.

Now we skip the sports clinics, lunch, and go to Competition.
This is my favorite part. BUT LEADERS COULDN'T PLAY DOGDEBALL. The only time I can actually play and I can't. DEVASTATION. Everything else I played. Thankfully we only had to go outside and play a game once because it was in the high 90's with lots of humidity. Remember when we say we need fresh air, it wasn't fresh air. You know when you walk into a room filled with sweating boys who haven't put on deodorant in a LONG time. That's how it felt the second you stepped your foot outside. I sweat. We played awesome games. I'm a very competitive person if you didn't know so I got my group blue bandanas and blue and white war paint. We looked good. Oh and I almost forgot. Our team finished undefeated. kinda. We had one tie, but.... My best friend was in another team and they were undefeated the first day. This is a pretty big deal ya know? The next day we face them in dodge ball and we beat them. The next day, revenge is theirs. They want it ALMOST as bad as I do. But we won. Big win too. Yeah my team was the best. Sometimes I wanted those girls to lose though cause the weren't humble.

After all this I prayed. I still pray. And I'm still going to pray.
Pray for every single one to committed their life to Christ and who didn't.
I know when your there it's awesome.
You get to listen about Jesus without problems like school challenging them.
But when they come back into the real world, I'm afraid they'll just walk away.
And that's where I need to pray.
And you can too.
That they will use their Bible.
That they'll pray.
And realize they can't live life without Jesus.
That they are nothing without him.
I pray that when tough things come to them, they won't blame God and walk away from him.
But they will stay faithful and trust in him just like you trust a chair when you sit on it.
I ask that you would pray for these kids.
Some of them I noticed would often be strayed away by friends.
But that they would cling to Jesus.
And never let go.
This is my prayer.

Bernie's Random Ramblings // 2 Years of Blogging

Hi everyone!
NOTE: I wrote this on Monday.
I just got done sweating while cleaning the car so I could earn some money so I could buy some bandanas. Tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday I have a summer sport camp that I will be helping out with and I want to buy the kids some bandanas just because when I did the camp I always wanted a bandana. Lol. It's very hot here. Very humid. And I sweat a lot today and I wasn't even totally in the sun or running really hard. Two things that will happen tomorrow.

But that's not what I'm talking about.
I know it's late, but May 28th was my 2nd year of blogging.
I was actually camping with my family that whole weekend so that's why I couldn't post.
I wasn't very disappointed I thought I could just forget about it, but I wanted to thank you.

WHY I STARTED BLOGGING
I started blogging because my sister was doing it a lot and met a couple of friends there too. I really liked the idea and asked my dad if I could make a blog. When I made my blog I came up with the Uniquely You mostly because I was crazy. I know it's kinda hard to see my craziness in the internet, but I'm crazy a lot. I also really like the word unique. I recently changed my name which sometimes I regret, but I really like my new name. Both names really describe my mission in this blog. And I hope I'm doing that.

WHAT I'VE LEARNED FROM BLOGGING
I've actually learned photography. I don't know how and why, but after a while I got interested in photography. I first started taking pictures on my IOS 6 iPod which had horrible quality until my dad suggested using a real camera. And boy did I thank him a lot. It really made my pictures a lot better. My pictures changed from this to this. I think I've really improved on my photography and I'm excited to improve even more. I'm currently looking for a camera like a canon or Nikon that's maybe used that I could get because I'm just using my mom's camera right now. Anyway I've learned photography which is a big hobby of mine.

Good Apples Friday // Listening to Correction or Instruction

Welcome to Good Apples Friday

Today is my mom's birthday!
So, yeah it 11:27, but I got an excuse.
I've been with my mom.

Anywho, I wanted to give you some good apples today by showing you this verse.
32, Now therefore, O sons, Listen to me, For blesses are they who keep my ways. Heed instruction and be wise, And do not neglect it.

Definition of Heed
pay attention to; take notice of:

Definition of Neglect
                                                                fail to care for properly:

I know sometimes it offends you or hurts you when people try to correct you, but sometimes you need to forget about that and listen to what they say.

I know sometimes it sounds mean, but why do you think they are telling this to you, because they care for you.

Sometimes we need to forget about the way they said it and listen to what they said.

We can all practice to pay attention of others when they instruct you.
Thank them for being nice and caring for you.
And not getting all mad at them, but being humble and listening to them.

I hope those are some good apples for you!

Bernie's Random Ramblings // My Birthday!

Hello and these are the things I got for my birthday! ;) Well some.

I know it's a little late, but  I wanted to show you the things I got for my birthday! I had a great time. And thanks everyone for the very nice wishes! :) I'm so thankful for you guys! I wanted to tell you a little about what I did for my birthday (also including some fun things I did that week also. we celebrate birthday weeks) ;)

For my birthday I firstly went to church and Sunday school. That Sunday was really special because on my birthday my family became members to the church we've been going to for a couple months. There's lots of kids and the messages are awesome! After that we went home and ate lunch. Then we opened my presents and ate my cake. It was strawberry and it said ER on it. Not emergency room, but those are my initials. Lol After that we went bike riding around the little town where I church was. And then we went to Sunday night church. Oh and did I mention, we watched The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe there too! It was a fun day! But we have birthday weeks. So the story is not over just yet.

A couple weeks later we were going to go camping for my birthday, but it was to cold. So, we went to Garden of the Gods. Our first stop was Logan's Roadhouse where we ate good food and got to see War Machine in Civil Wars actor being interviewed. I could hear but I just saw the clips. (unneeded comment you but it's relate to captain America so) We told them it was my birthday (even though it wasn't. but it was my celebration for my birthday) hoping to get a free dessert, but we didn't. Instead all of the workers gathered around me and one of them said, "CAN I HAVE EVERYONE'S ATTENTION PLEASE! THIS IS ELLIE'S BIRTHDAY SO INSTEAD OF SINGING A SONG WE ALL SAY YEE HAW" And everyone said yee haw. And my face beet red. Even my brother said he had red cheeks too. After that we went to Crispy Crème donuts and set off to our adventure. I took lots of photography (which will be coming soon) and flipped a lot. It was very fun. After all that we went to my Great Grandma's and watched the Cardinals game. IT WAS A FUN WEEK!

What I Got For My Birthday
A homemade balance beam that my dad made for me.
Some cowboy boots.
A lime green shirt and some denim shorts.
Hungry Hippos Game.
An elephant necklace.
A Rubix cube.
2 months for tumbling classes!
A LEOTARD!
Some $$$.
A dress.
AND I think that's all.
Oh and a sign about friends! :)

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes.
And sorry this is late.

What I Like About the Song Jesus is Better

Heyy everyone! Today I'm doing another What I like About This Song.

What I Like About the Song
Jesus is Better by Austin Stone

There is no other, so sure and steady
My hope is held in Your hand
When castles crumble, and breath is fleeting
Upon this rock I will stand, upon this rock I will stand
Glory, glory, we have no other king
But Jesus Lord of all
We raise the anthem our loudest praises ring
We crown Him Lord of all
Your kindly rule has shattered and broke
The curse of sin’s tyranny
My life is hidden ‘neath Heaven’s shadow
Your crimson flood covers me
Your crimson flood covers me
In all my sorrows
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
In every vict’ry
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Than any comfort
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
More than all riches
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Our souls declaring:
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Our song eternal:
Jesus is better, make my heart believe

I love these lyrics because it's so true.
Jesus is Better.
I love the line that says,
In Every Sorrow, Jesus is Better, Make my Heart Believe.
More than all riches
Jesus is Better, Make my heart believe.

We all struggle with not putting God first.
And it's hard.
But I want to pray and ask God to make him first.
To know that Jesus is Better than any riches.
Than any victory.
Than any comfort.
That he is better.

I understand it's hard to maybe give something up because you think that it is pulling it apart from you and God. But Jesus is Better. And ask God to make you heart believe that.

Jesus is Better, Make My Heart Believe
