My First Broadway Musical // Motown

WE WENT TO OUR FIRST BROADWAY MUSICAL GUYS. HOW COOL IS THAT?

So, one of my dad’s oldest friends (that he tells stories about all the time) is in the Broadway musical Motown. Motown is a musical telling the stories behind popular African-American artists through around the 50’s-70’s. Long story short, my parents were just going to the musical (and us kids go to Beauty and the Beast) until a couple hours before the show our friend told us he could get us tickets too. The only down point was we’d be separated in twos. I was a little scared at first having to separate during the show but it all turned out fine. Enough said about that. Enjoy the pictures and comments about this wonderful experience.
this is what the sign looked like. I'd never seen it before so it was really cool to see.

it was about 5 minutes till the musical was going to start and we were waiting for our tickets someone was going to give us. everybody was hustling through the streets so it was busy. me and Danny stood in the box office, glancing at the clock, hoping we'd get our tickets soon, and looking around the streets for two random people we didn't even know, that'd be giving us tickets. they finally made it and we hurried to our seats. THANKFULLY, we made it JUST on time. I realized how much of a blessing it was that we made it on time because if not, we would've been trying to find our seats in the dark.

when we opened the door into the theatre it was amazing. it was big. it looked old. it involved tons of details.

one cool thing about the show was ALL of the music was live.

after the show our friend got to take us backstage and we got to go on the stage. it was really cool to see the view. I would be terrified to perform in front of that many people but our friend told us that they can only see the front row of the audience because the lights are so bright.

right here is the where all the costumes are. there was tons of costumes. amazingly there's about 40 characters in the show but there's only about 15 people in the cast. Our friend said he played 7 different characters in the show. At one time he played one man and right after he got off stage he had to completely change his clothes in another outfit in 32 seconds because he had another part to play.

all these ropes and chords changed the backgrounds during the show. also the big (whatever you call it) on the bottom left was what made steam come out onto the stage. what's so amazing is they take all this stuff with them to every show. I can't even imagine putting away all this stuff and packing it away, then a couple days later having to put it back together again. and I complain about making dinner and then cleaning up my mess.
our friend also took us up the stairs to everybody's dressing rooms. everywhere you looked there was murals of musicals that were performed in this theatre. whenever a musical would perform there, they had a mural that everybody in the cast would sign there names on. I didn't know any of the names (since they're mostly old) but apparently they were BIG names. It was sooo cool.

ain't it beautiful?

Although scary at times, going to Motown was a wonderful experience. I'm so glad we got to go. Our friend told us he could get us tickets to Hamilton when it comes to the Fox Theatre. AHHH. I don't really like Hamilton (no hate please lol) but I really want to go to another Broadway musical again.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed.

Have you ever been to a Broadway musical? If so, which one?

bouncing in to say bye,

Thanks so much for following my blog!! <333

I've never been to a Broadway musical, but my sister has. She went to NYC to see it and had quite the adventure! XD The van breaking down, being stuck in NYC at 2 in the morning, trying to get taxi's, having no idea how to use the subway... and all of the group being from small towns. She did a huge blog post about it all, and I could give you the link if you'd like to read it. They went to see Les Mis. or whatever that musical is called. lol! XP
