My Once Again Super Late June Highlights // Hey July

JULY you're here. Well duh Ellie. YOU'RE LATE AGAIN. Ugh sorry guysss. My excuse this time is I just got back from camp and now we're planning a vacation and it's like AHHHH. Busy. Anywho, back into it being July not my stupid excuses about being late. Honestly, I'm a bit sad about June ending. June was great. SUPER busy, but a GREAT busy. A super awesome you-don't-do-this-everyday kind of month. I'm excited to share it with you. So let's gooooooo *yay I'm so excited right now. like literally streamers and confetti are flying out in my brain right now*

J U N E in review

Meeting Anya and Aiyanna - You know your month is going to be good when the first day is THE BEST DAY EVER. I met my long distance friends Anya and Aiyanna after 2 years of knowing each other and wanting to meet. They were traveling back home after a trip and they got to stop by for dinner (thank you so much for giving your time even though you probably wanted to get home).  It was funny because this year Anya sent me a birthday letter and one of the things she said was "I wish I could see you for your birthday but maybe I'll see you next year." And THIS year we met. Like less than a month after she said that. Awwwww I love our little story. haha We also took super cute photos (above is one of them^ but there's more that are sooo cute)

Cousins - Earlier this month we took a trip up to see our family. Mainly, our cousin who was about to leave for the military. So our family hosted a nice party. It was superrrr nice to see all our family we haven't seen in a while. We colored till our fingers dropped played a lot of hide and seek, and ate a lot of blueberries.

Gymnastics - This month my homeschool gymnastics class ended for the summer so we had to find another class for me to enroll in. My coach invited me to be in their gymnastics team. Basically, I'll train in the summer and then in the fall we'll compete. There are lot of differences in my homeschool gym class and my team class.

Gymnastics Homeschool Class vs. Gymnastics Team Class
Mainly just for fun                           To train for competition.
Practices are 45 minutes long.         Practices 3 to 4 hours long.
Less stressed. Not so pressured.      Very stressful. If you aren't doing very good, you will be pushed*
Only about 10 girls                           Probably 20-25 girls.

*Now this is in a totally good way. There are girls (we all do this sometimes) who talk a lot, don't try their best, and overall are kinda lazy in their work. So yes, they will be pushed to pay attention, do their best, and work hard. Gymnastics teaches you great character*

So yeah it's really fun. Actually right now I'm taking July off for gymnastics because vacations, VBS, baseball games, etc. are taking up a LOT of our nights. I'll be training in my backyard again for right now but that's totally okay. I'm excited to improve on my skills during July but also just take a little rest. It takes way more energy than you think.

Baseball games - my bro's lighting up that pitcher's mound ya kno #proudsister. It's sooooo fun to watch him and his teammates play. They're improving too. YAYYYYYY it's awesome to watch that happen :)

Jeppin  - one of my friend's got a jeep and we got to ride in it. IT WAS SO FUN. I'm dreaming about getting a jeep now lol. Anywho, the wind was blowing and the music was super loud. IT WAS THE BEST. And sang to We are never getting back together which I don't even like that song but you can't NOT sing to a song and have fun when you're in a jeep. it was so fun.

Lake day - For about a week I was begging my mom everyday to go swimming. Everyday felt inconvenient and she had to say, "Sorry Ellie. We'll do it tomorrow." haha and that went on for about a week. Until finally we found a free day to go with the whole family. It was sooo worth the wait. We spent the whole day hooping the tennis ball in a tube, doing front flips off the deck, and then we got pizza. I ate pizza in the water (it didn't get wet. I know, that'd be gross). It was loads of fun and I can't wait to do it again.

FCA camp - I've kinda already went into detail about this REALLY FUN HIGHLIGHT (that you should totally read about if you haven't) right here so check it out. A short summary though. FCA is a sports camp and I got to attend and be a huddle leader for my 2nd time in a row. It's always very tiring but loads of fun. but read more about it here hehe :P

Danny's Birthday - Over the time of FCA was also Danny's birthday! Although our day was super busy like a full day of camp and then he had a baseball game, I think he really enjoyed it. He also got some pretty rad birthday presents that I KNOW he really enjoyed getting.

D3 - D3 is a Christian summer camp that lasts for about a week. It's taken place on a BEAUTIFUL campus. (You can witness just some of the beauty when you see my photos of the campus^ there's much more beautifulness though haha.) I went to D3 last year and it was soooo fun, but I got a concussion. This year was wayyy more fun since I didn't get hurt. Anywho, I really enjoyed the sermons, the track sessions, (which is basically just lectures about three topics missions, worldview, and leadership which you have to choose between. I chose leadership) team games, and the fellowship I had with my youth group. I'm going do some posts with more details so be looking out for that ;)

Some funny stories that happened were being in the talent show :P So our leadership teacher made a dance and taught it to us girls. She told us she wanted some girls to help her do it for the talent show so me and my friends agreed. Now let me tell you. We were in a good mood that day. Because I DID NOT want to do it the next day. I endured it though and it was actually kinda fun. We got to dance on the stage and then watch all the other kids dance with us. It was hilarious cause we all looked like total fools.

It was the last night of D3 and I was getting ready to head to bed. There was one girl in my room who was sleeping so as I left the room to brush my teeth, I shut the door so she wouldn't wake up. Well after finally heading to bed, I tried to open the door to my room and it was locked. This is horrible. My pillow, bed, blankets, and everything I need to go to sleep is in there. What am I going to do? So I kinda talked to some of my friends hinting to them that I needed a place to sleep but they didn't really do anything lol. I was ready to sleep on the couch when I saw one of my friends and just kinda mentioned I'm locked into my room and she was like, "Oh we have to open it. We can help you. C'mon let's go." So we banged on the door trying to wake up my friend who was sleeping in there but she would NOT wake up. My friend said, "Okay, let's open my window, you climb outside, open your window, and climb inside your room." Which thank God we were on the 1st floor otherwise I'd probably be sleeping on the couch by myself. I climbed into my room though (barely). It was a funny experience in the end :P

D3 was soooo awesome (as always) and I can't wait for next year!!

Thanks for reading guys!!

Hello March

Hello guys. I'm pretty excited cause I'm posting my February Highlights. yeahhhh this month was very busy, but exciting so I'm pumped to tell you about it ;)

February Highlights

Sunny and Warm Days with Friends
It's been reaaally warm around here. All month it's been 70 degrees. Even though I love winter I really liked it being warm too. UNTIL I GOT A MOSQUITO BITE. Anywho, we walked that cute dog (the mayor's dog. yah we're cool) and it was awesome. Then, we strolled around town with a scooter and a bike. it was like back to my childhood days when I scootered everywhere. seriously scooters are so fun though.

Valentines Day Banquet
Our church band does a show every Valentines Day where the youth perform songs from different genres in the olden days. You know cause it'd be like Throwback Tuesday to the old people ;) So we did old gospel songs in the Grand Opry. We dressed up in country dresses, boots, and lots of rhinestones. Before we performed we served them with a delicious dinner. It was a lot of work, but sooo fun. The best song was He's Got the Whole World which had a very interesting twist in it. Please check it out on Youtube right here. It's really good. And if you watch it, tell me if you liked it ;)

IHOP and Mall Adventures.
Once Sarah and Mila finished their book we wanted to celebrate by going to IHOP. I'm pretty sure it was my first time going there. and it was really goodddd. After that we went to the mall. We have this thing about going to stores, trying on weird clothes that you'd probably never see us in, and taking pictures together. We've done ugly Christmas sweaters, old lady clothes, suits, and then we did dresses. I was in a black lace dress, Sarah was in a white sparkly dress (we all agreed she looked like a three year old with her pink pants under them), Mila was in a romper (that was funny. she looked like she just got our of jail), and Ellie was in a really long black dress (and she just got back from prom lol not really. it looked like it though). So there you are, now you know what we do at malls. #secretrevealed

Piano Festival
Although it was very nerveracking, it was fun. Basically piano festival is where you play for judges two songs that you've been practicing for about 5 months and they judge you. For the five years that I've been doing it I've got a superior (the highest score you can get) every year. This sixth year I got another superior. So, I was really excited. Danny and Sarah got a superior too!! After our festival we went to Golden Corral. AHH FOOD. it was sooooo good. I was glad to get another year of festival done.

Gymnastics
So two things that are really cool happened this month concerning gymnastics. Firstly, I went to my first gymnastics meet. EEP it was awesome. If I do competitive gymnastics this fall I will compete the level I got to see. I didn't expected it to be as advanced so I'm really excited to do all those skills. Lordwilling I'll be competing this fall. AHHH anywho that was really fun. Secondly, I did an ariel (no handed cartwheel) for the FIRST TIME this month. All by myself in my backyard. I was super encouraged by that because I barely even practiced with my coaches. So it's kinda weird that I would just GET it. but it's really exciting. :D oh one more thing hehe :P Every week we practice any skill we want on the trampoline (a perfect time to do my front flip) but I was scared to because I fail at it a lot. One day I told myself to do it so I can get better and I did. It was a lot better than I thought. I'm finally starting to get a hang of it, but it's a very hard skill.

Roadshow Concert
Every year we go to this concert that has tons of Christian artists. We got to see Jordan Feliz, Passion, Rend Collective, Franchesca Battistelli, Family Force 5, and Steven Curtis Chapman. You might've not heard of Family Force 5 but you should check them out. They have great music to dance too ;P everyone else I really enjoyed listening too. I really liked Franchesca Battistelli, Family Force 5, and Steven Curtis Chapman. :)

Random fact: our youth group is going to see NF (a Christian rapper that IS AWESOME)!! I'm so excited. Look him up dudes. Therapy Session, How Could You Leave Us, and Mansion. Please.
YOU WILL BE PLEASED.

February Goals

Hello February

it was his birthday on the 24th yayyyyyy

 I did a photoshoot with Sarah :D
WHEW HAS IT BEEN LONG GUYS. I'm so sorry, but I had like NO, ZILCH, NOTTA inspiration. but...I'M BACK. January was a long month, but I very much enjoyed it. So here are some of my highlights.

JANUARY HIGHLIGHTS

New Years Day
I really enjoyed going outside and clanging the pans with my family. It was really cool to start the new year with going to church. I mean, who doesn't want to start there year off with studying God's word with my friends and family.

The Power Going Out
Lol You're gonna think I'm weird but I very much enjoyed when the power went out (for about 3 hours) because of a ice storm. It was cool to relax with my fam and actually do stuff together. Sometimes I get so lost in my iPod and what I want to do that I don't always do productive things with my family. So besides having to bring a candle everywhere I go, I enjoyed the power outage. We played guitar and sang together and then worked out. It was nice :)

Hanging Out with Our Youth Group
It was fun going with our youth group to a Can you Escape the Room game. Basically, we were stuck in a room and had to unlock boxes all leading to you finding the key to get out of the room. Even though our team WAS BAD, it was so much fun. HEY..we got a REALLY good excuse for being bad.
1. We were the youngest people in the youth group.
2. We had no parents with us contrary to the other groups.
3. All of us had never done it before.
But really, it was hard.

Gymnastics
So guys, I know, in the past I said I'm doing gymnastics lesson but really I haven't. I've been doing tumbling lessons. It isn't the same thing. Gymnastics is the four events floor, beam, vaults, and bars. Tumbling is only floor. Anywho, this month I changed classes and went to gymnastics. AND I LOVE IT. My favorite event is bars.  AHH IM SO EXCITED.

Dad's Birthday
It was fun to plan our dad's big celebration. I feel like parents don't get as much as celebration for their birthdays as kids so I try to make it as festive as I can. On his birthday we went to Applebee's after biology class. Then we went to history class, so it was a busy school day. Friday we had a nice party for him. We made a homemade carrot cake, a banner, and I gave him my frame that says "I love my dad." Then we went bowling. Btw, man I was baaaad, I thought I was going to be wayyyy better. I'm getting too much confidence on Wii bowling I guess.

February Goals
Earn a superior in my piano festival.
Drink more water.
Condition more.
Do another photoshoot with Sarah. Teach her some tips on photography so she can start doing picture of me :P
And finally do my roundoff right.

Lol I know this post is already long but I just gotta say one more thing about that last goal.

Every single coach who sees me do a roundoff always says "We need to work on that. You have a weird roundoff." Dude, I know I do and I'm not making fun of them for saying I need help, but so many people have said it. And every time someone says it, I laugh and say, "Yeah I know."
SO. I want to do my roundoff right. I want to learn. I'm going to do it💪🏼

Anywho, I'm super excited about February. We got some REALLY exciting things happening. WOO HOO.

P.S. I just realized two of my pictures I featured in my last post. *slaps myself in the face* sorrryyyyy

Bernie's Random Ramblings // September Highlights

Welcome to Bernie's Random Ramblings
Today I thought I'd do another September Highlights.
Firstly, I can't believe September is already gone.
I'm happy though!

1. Me and my friends finished our movie.
We've been making a mystery movie these days. Every Tuesday we meet at the library and shoot it. It's really fun because we can make really funny personalities for all of our characters. I'm Director Bernie. Sup. Now that we've finished that 20 minute movie we're doing a prequel which is around 20 minutes long. We haven't finished it though. We could have a show!
2. My family went to the Apple Festival.
Every year we go to the apple festival with all our mom's family. It's super fun to go on the rides, hang with our grandma and grandpa, and go to the parade. This year we had to babysit some kids so we got to go to the parade with them and take them on rides. I got to go on the dumbo ride. I was a flying elephant. :P It was super fun! I also went on a ride that took you upside down. Very fun also :P
3. Play Behold our God on the guitar.
We've been doing guitar for about a month and now we're playing Behold our God. So far we've learned the G, A, C, D7, D, EM, and F. It's very fun. I love playing guitar because I can praise God and also be doing something else. Like playing the guitar and singing to God. :)
4. I got a 92% on my biology test!
Yay! My first test and I was very satisfied with my score. Tomorrow I have another one that I'm a little tiny bit worried about. I can do it though! ;) I enjoyed this chapter because we talked a lot about bacteria. That was fun.
5. Enjoying church history.
This class has been so fun! I love it. I'm dying this week because we don't have a class this week.
6. Getting really close to doing my backhandspring by myself.
Right now I just need to work on not being nervous when I do a backhandspring by myself because when I'm nervous I don't think about doing my backhandspring right. I can do it though. I'm really excited. I THINK in a couple weeks I'll have it by myself. Hopefully. Please pray!
6. Went on a mission trip!
I'm excited about this one! This week we went to a Children's home with my youth group. It was very fun! I'll have to do another post about it. Basically we did weed eating for them and also made fleece blankets for the girls. We also did a special service for them. Anyway, you can hear about it soon. STAY TUNED!! :P
7. This isn't a highlight because I wanted glasses (reading glasses) but we went to the eye doctor and I don't need glasses.
I love glasses because I look good in them. Even the girl said, "I owned those glasses." :P I'm going to buy myself some fake glasses cause I won't too. Don't judge. The girl said me and my mom should be glasses models. I'm looking into it. You don't know how much times I work on my smile in the bathroom. :P lol
8. I wore a long sleeve shirt!
yay! It's finally getting cool out. :) YAY FALL!

9. We've been staying up late!
YAYYYYY!

October Highlights
1. Get up earlier. September Highlight 9 is still gonna happen though.
2. Get my roundoff backhandspring.
3. Drink apple cider!
4. Go to more high school football games.

yay! hope you liked!

my dad said I should say bouncing out to say bye, but I like bouncing in. what do you think?

History, Biology, and Gymnastics

HEYYYY EVERYONE
I just realized how horrible my Bernie's Random Ramblings was so I went to update that.
Then, I really wanted to talk about my life. Cause it's been awesome.
So I decided to make a little my life post.

Last Thursday was our first church history class for the school year. My dad and our Pastor are teaching it. I knew it was going to be fun because all of our close church friends we're doing it. And it was! Our Pastor explains things really well. After the audio everyone was like "wait so what did I just hear?" and Pastor Ed helped us understand it by explaining it and helping us learn some new words. That was really fun. Everybody was doodling too. (one reason why I didn't understand the audio very well.) I don't usually doodle in class, but I was. Man, my handwriting was awesome that day.

Before the class I was talking to my friends. I told them, "I'm the kind of person who doesn't even answer the question who died for your sins. I know it Jesus, but I'm to shy to say it." So then after that I was answering ALL these questions in class. Which I think I was doing that because I was more comfortable about these people. It was still funny though.

I also did my biology test today. In this test I needed to memorize these really long and complicated words. What was hard about it was I had to memorize the definition. I know that sounds dumb, but my family has always done spelling where you say the definition and we say the word to the definition. So that was something new to me. Anywho, I think I did okay..... I had to guess for two of the questions. Sarah, who's already done this class looked over my answers after I took my test and told me some things I might've got wrong. So, I'm pretty comfident about it. Hopefully I get a good grade though.

These past few weekends it's  been really nice out. Of course we like to take advantage of that by going outside. Basically, we grill out. Eat outside. Play games with each other. Then just hang around outside doing what we want. I like to play on my balance beam and my mat. I do workouts on it, gymnastics games, and fun stuff. A couple days ago my brother joined me. We did balance beam competitions. Of course we're horrible and we make up rules so we said that you can have 10 retries. yeah our balance wasn't so good that day.

Speaking of gymnastics......IM SO EXCITED. Yesterday I had my gymnastics class. I wasn't there last week because of my back and my it was still hurting a little bit, but I decided to go. I was super nervous coming in there thinking that I would start hurting. I was fine though. I never hurt and I could do my skills just like normal. I was so happy! We got to do backhandsprings (my favorite). I'm so excited because I've getting better at my backhandsprings. I'm starting to get the feeling of it. First when we started the coach said, "okay let's just do roundoffs." I was sad because I wanted to do roundoff backhandsprings. Later then he said you can do them now. I was so excited. A couple weeks ago I was doing a roundoff, stop, and then do a backhandspring, but it's supposed to be connected. I'm finally getting to connect those better. And it makes me happy! So there's my gymnastics talk that I've been dying to tell everybody.

I was really excited about this week because I was going to be busy. WHO LIKES BUSY? ME. On Monday we had our girls bible study. Tuesday was piano and gym. Today was guitar and Wednesday night meals at church. Tomorrow is biology and history class. Friday is going to our apple festival. Saturday is going to the apple festival parade and hanging out there with our family. We're also taking these little kids there to because we're babysitting them. So, I'm excited!

Woohoo!
Tell me about your week.
Is there anything you're just dying to tell everybody about to? Tell meeeee!
What are some interesting things you learned this week?
And if you like gymnastics, TALK TO ME!

Bernie's Random Ramblings // Gymnastics!

Welcome to Bernie's Random Ramblings
Hey everyone!
Today I sat here wondering what to write about and I thought of gymnastics.
Basically, I'll be writing about how I started and what I'm doing now.

I started getting interested in gymnastics about a year ago. I became interested because I watched a lot of Youtube videos and a channel I started watching was a gymnastics related channel. I found some videos on Youtube and started learning simple skills like handstands and cartwheels. One thing I love to do is take pictures of my handstands behind a lake, just in my living room, or at the zoo.

A skill I learned early this year was a roundoff. It's a pretty easy skill, but super important because gymnasts use that skill in everything. One day I was just practicing in the house and I got my roundoff. Once I got it, I JUMPED IN THE AIR. I did tons of roundoffs after that. Then, a month ago I learned I was doing it wrong. It was a little hard learning the right way to do it, but I got it now. A lot of skills like cartwheels and handstands when you're done you are facing the same direction you started in. A roundoff is different because you do a twist so you are now facing the opposite direction you started in. If you are facing the other direction you can do back flips. That's why roundoffs are used a lot. I hope that's not confusing. It sounds like a hard skill, but it's actually not. You just have to run into a handstand and once your hands are on the floor you PUSH your arms UP and then your legs land at the same time. When you push up, your body does a twist that makes you land in a different direction.

Handstand are cool because you can always work on them. Once you get the standard one you can do a handstand while splitting your legs. There are other skills like double stagger, single stagger, or a scorpion that you can do, but it's a lot harder. You can also practice walking in a handstand. It's a easy skill, but very fun. I can do a hundred thousand of those a day and I'll never get bored.
I WAS BORN TO BE UPSIDE DOWN GUYS!

Okey dokey. In order to do these gymnastics skills it's VERY IMPORTANT to exercise to make your body strong. One time I was trying to do a front limber. Basically that a handstand then go into a bridge then get up from the bridge . A friend told me to not be so focused on getting my arms up, but lifting my hips up. In order to do that I needed a lot of ab strength. Everyday I did 60 crunches in two sets. In about a month I got it. My point is: if you exercise you can build up your muscles to accomplish these skills. So exercise guys! Who out here is a exercise freak like me? My enthusiasim for exercising has encouraged my brother and dad to start running with me. My sister and our friends participate in Bernie's Fitness Club (my fitness club;P). I just love doing exercises!

Right now, I'm working on a backhandspring. Basically a backhandspring is a back flip but you use you hands to lift you up. A back flip is with no hands, but a backhandspring is with your hands. I haven't done it successfully yet by myself, but I'm going to get it soon. I've had some fails, but it's okay. Last week I was at gym and I was doing roundoff backhandsprings. THAT WAS FUN. With a spotter, but still. IT WAS AWESOME. I'm also working on a front handspring. You go into a handstand and once your hands hit the ground REALLY LIFT your arm and arch your back. It's really fun. A couple weeks ago I was really bad at it, but last week I got A LOT of practice at an open gym. I was doing so much better. Then, I did it in front of my coaches. I could see he was expecting me to not be so well, but I was like, "I got this." It was pretty awesome!

So, right now I should be at my gym class, but unfortunately I'm not. My back has been hurting me for about a week. And we're talking to a friend about it. He told us some things I was doing that might hurt it. I skipped my class tonight because arching my back hurts it. Please pray that I get better. I can still do some gymnastics, but it's hard not to be able to do everything. I know this is all part of God's plan though!

I HOPE YOU LIKE!
If you'd like to hear more tell me!
Any specific things you'd like for me to talk about, I'd LOVE to hear!

Are you an exercising freak?
Can you do a handstand?
If not, are you maybe gonna learn?

Good Apples Friday // Trust in God

Welcome to Good Apples Friday
Well I'm here typing with my sister's new awesome laptop. thanks sis. big sis's are the best guys.
I first want to apologize for not posting Tuesday. An all day trip to the water park just slipped up and I was to busy to post. But this Tuesday kinda relates to my post today.

I'm first going to talk about not doubting yourself.
And then, I'm going to talk about never giving up.

On Tuesday after our family had a nice time swimming I went to my first ever tumbling class. I admit I was a little nervous mainly about being around new people though. The class turned out great. I was a little behind everyone in m skills, but soon I caught up. I was extremely happy to hear my teacher's telling my parents that I was awesome and I was catching up with the other students who've been doing classes longer. And I'm not here to brag. I'm here to say.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER DOUBT YOURSELF.

A year ago I started loving gymnastics and doing it at home. Firstly, if I ever wanted to play professionally I'd have a disadvantage because of the age I was already at. But I loved gymnastics. So, I worked hard. I looked up videos on YouTube. Sometimes I got discouraged because I loved gymnastics a lot, but lessons are expansive. I still want to train though. Even if I have to quit classes, I'll still be learning. It'll be hard, but I know that if God really wants me to be a gymnast it'll happen even if I'm teaching myself on the internet.

So, never give up guys. Never. Never doubt yourself and say, "Oh I'm to old," and "Oh I can't do this." Because remember that verse in Philippians that we say all the time.

After the long nights that I watch the Olympics sometimes I just think. If only that could be me.
Sure the possibilities are maybe small for me to go to the Olympics someday, but never say you can't.
My dad taught me never to say I want to do this, but I probably can't. Because you'll never do it if you keep saying you can't. I know that it'll be totally rare for me to go to the Olympics. But I know that I have a mighty God. And he has a special plan for me. And if it's the Olympics I'll praise him. And if it's not the Olympics, I'll praise him.

Lord, help me to trust in you. Even though it seems like it could never happen help me to know that you are God. And you control my life. Help me to never say I can't but to work hard. And most of all help me to glorify you in whatever I do.

This is my prayer.

hope you like!

bouncing in to say bye,
                              Bernie

p.s. I don't mean to brag. I'm just trying to give you an example.
