Good Apples Friday // The Word Hate Part 2

Welcome to Good Apples Friday
Today I'm making a part 2 of my post about the word HATE.
If you haven't read it yet I would recommend you to. You can check it out right here.

Yesterday as I watched Usian Bolt, said to be the best runner of all time run.
These couple of races he's ran, have been easy for him because of the giant lead he has over all the runners. Great story. Awesome guy. What's so bad about him you might think?
He's addicted to the camera. He's said plenty of times, "I'm number one." Millions of people admire him and idolize him and he loves it. He feeds off it.
As I watched him I thought in my mind,
"I HATE HIM."
One thing I don't like to see is people bragging and telling others that they're number one.
But then I thought. What am I thinking?
Instead of hating him, I should pray for him.
He's lost.
He does not know Christ.
He runs for one thing. His glory.

Instead of hating him I should pray for him.
Pray that he would find Jesus.
That he would realize who number one is.
That he would give his life to God, not himself.

Many lives out there are lost.
I often always think bad things about them.
Instead I should love them
Pray for them.
Hate their sin.
Not them.

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Jeremiah 29:12

But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Luke 6:27-28

We need to love others. Not hate them.

And this is my prayer.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
Proverbs 3:3-4

Lord, help me and all of these readers to love others. To not hate others for the wrong that they are doing, but love them and pray for them. Bind love around my neck and never let it leave me. I want to love like you. Help me to love more Jesus.

bouncing in to say bye,

  1. Hi, Bernie! I found your blog via the Featured Fridays linkup on Allie D's blog!

But anyways, I just wanted to say--I really liked this!I feel the same way about Usain Bolt, and that's why I appreciate the Christian athletes at the Olympics so much more, such as Missy Franklin and Laurie Hernandez.

    1. Hi! Oh that's awesome!

Thank you! :) Yeah I love it when I hear about Christian athletes. I heard some divers say things about Jesus. And Simone Manuel also. It's awesome to see athletes sharing God in their interviews. Thanks for commenting!

  2. I thought the same thing as I watched Bolt on the TV the other day. These are great points to pray for people that you dislike.

Thanks for the incredible encouragement, Ellie! :)

    With love and all joy,
    Allie D.

  3. I agree! Usain Bolt does bug me with all the pompous stuff he does in front of the camera, but the more annoying part is how the announcers idolize him. Just like Michael Phelps. The thing is, he is a Catholic. You can certainly tell; he always crosses himself before racing. So when I remember to pray for him, and other celebrities, I pray that he would be humbled. He already knows 'about' Jesus, he just doesn't live according to his word.
I really enjoyed this post, and I'm glad I found your blog! :)

    1. Agreed. The announcers act like he's the only racer. I do see him do that before his races. I think he might just be doing that though. Some people do stuff like that to make them look like Christians, but they really aren't. I can't say for sure though. The real thing is that we need to pray for him.
Thanks! I'm glad you like! :) Stop by any time!

  5. My grandmother is super religious, and she does like to state what religion Olympians from various countries are-- I heard he is a Christian of some sort. Good thing you're praying for him: hate the sin, not the sinner.

  6. Hey Ellie! I absolutely LOVED your post! It had so many good points and this is something everyone should read. :-)

I do have to say something though about what you said about Bolt if that's ok. :-) I do not believe that Bolt is "lost" like you said. He just won the Olympics, that is HUGE, and he deserves to walk around with excitement and holding up a number one because he is indeed number one. I was watching when he won, and he was just showing his excitement which is deserved after winning the olympics. ;-) When I watched him win, I was really excited for him just by watching his excitement and seeing how happy he was to win gold. I guess it just surprises me that I watched him win and was holding up a number one and I was like " wow, that's great! I'm so glad that he is able to be number one because not many people from his country get that opportunity." And you watched it and thought that you hate him. I really don't believe that he did anything wrong. He has even working hard for YEARS and it finally all paid off. He should be able to show some excitement without people judging him.

  7. Thank you! I'm glad you liked!

Firstly, thanks for telling me this. I love to hear peoples thoughts while they're reading my posts. I do agree with you. I always feel happy for the people who won. And he's worked so hard he deserves it. Some people just have different opinions about things. I think it's giving all the glory to you when you put your finger up saying number one, but some might not. I'm not saying his running career is lost. I'm just saying he is lost because he does not know who number one is. And that's Jesus Christ. When I said I hated him, I regretted it and I never want to say that again. Bolt is great. He's a great runner. I just sometimes don't when he gives all the attention to himself.
